What you actually get
A week on the leaderboard with a home page spotlight for 24 hours, a mention in their subscriber email that morning, daily voting, and a dofollow backlink they rate at DR 57. Every week costs $49, and listings show a public impressions count so you can judge past launches before booking.

How to submit to DevHunt

  1. Sign in with GitHub or Google
The Submit control links to /login, which offers only those two and says outright they are used to filter out bots and fakes.
  2. Find the real form
Once signed in the Submit control points at /account/tools, and the form is at /account/tools/new. Both /submit and /tool/new render their client-side 404 even when authenticated.
  3. Tell us about your tool
A logo at 220x220 or 210x210, tool name, a catchy slogan, the website URL, an optional GitHub repo and a quick description that accepts HTML. There is also an Import from ProductHunt button that auto-fills the form from an existing PH listing.
  4. Extra stuff
A pricing type of Free, Subscription or One time fee, plus optional free-text categories.
  5. Media
An optional demo video, and at least three screenshots. The first becomes the social preview.
  6. Pick a week and pay
The week selector lists 105 weeks out to 2028 and shows how many tools are already booked into each. Choosing one turns the button into "Launch on <date> for $49". Tool info and the launch date can both be changed later.

Gotchas

Every launch week costs $49, all 105 of them out to August 2028, so there is no free week to wait for. The form does not say so until the end: the submit button appears only once a week is picked, and it reads "Launch on <date> for $49".
A bare /submit and /tool/new both render their client-side 404 even when signed in. The real form is /account/tools/new, reachable from the Submit control once you have an account.
Sign-in is GitHub or Google only, and they say plainly it is there to filter out bots, so an agent cannot get past it.
The form warns that non-dev tools are subject to removal, but their front page routinely carries AI image generators, video tools tagged Marketing and academic illustration software. The stated gate is stricter than the observed one.
All three pricing-type radios ship with value="free" in their markup, so whatever you pick may not be what gets recorded. Check the listing after it goes live.
The description field accepts HTML, so use <br> for paragraph breaks; plain newlines collapse.

Let your agent submit to DevHunt

Connect SubmitMap to your AI over MCP and this page stops being something you read and copy. Your agent asks for the DevHunt playbook and gets the brief for this exact form, with the values already taken from your submission pack instead of placeholders you fill in by hand.

What it does for this platform
Checks your product against the 4 DevHunt rules above, so you find out you would be rejected before you open a tab.
Hands your agent all 8 fields this form asks for, 2 of them optional, already filled from your pack.
Tells you what paying buys here, so you pick it on purpose: $49 per launch week to skip the line. A free queue exists, limited to 15 tools a week, but it was booked about three years ahead, so in practice every launch is paid.
Types it into DevHunt in your own browser, and stops for you when the form wants a sign-in.
Records what it sent, so the dashboard can answer "did I ever submit to DevHunt?".
